At Alban City Dental & Surgical Centre, we’re able to offer our patients looking for a way to straighten their teeth a more discreet option with ceramic braces. Designed to fulfil the same function as traditional fixed braces, ceramic braces are tooth-coloured, so they blend in more effectively with the rest of your smile. They’re also more comfortable, as they provide a smoother surface which causes less friction and irritation in the mouth.
Ceramic braces are an increasingly popular option among children, teens, and adults.
We can fit ceramic braces for patients as young as 12 and as old as 90, along with their oral health in proper condition.
Ceramic braces produce the same results as fixed metal braces.
But it might take slightly longer to get there.
Ceramic braces are more comfortable for the patient and also much more discreet.
They provide patients with a more subtle experience, cause less irritation, and are easier to remove.
Are ceramic braces uncomfortable?
Ceramic braces offer a much more comfortable experience than metal braces, but they can still cause some level of discomfort in the patient, especially when they are first applied.
How do I care for my teeth while wearing ceramic braces?
Wearing fixed braces means paying extra close attention to the rest of your oral healthcare. Because they are fixed to the teeth, you will have to use special brushes to make sure food and debris are properly removed. This will help prevent plaque and tartar from building up and help keep your mouth fresh.
Do I have to avoid any foods?
Because ceramic braces stain easily, you do need to avoid food and drink that are rich in colour and which can, therefore, lead to staining. These include tea, coffee, red wine, chocolate, curry, and tomatoes.
How long does the treatment take?
The exact length of treatment time will vary according to the individual patient, but most patients with ceramic braces can expect to see the results they’re looking for within 12 months.
